Ever heard of lock-snapping?
If you have uPVC/composite doors on your home and have never heard of lock snapping, here’s bit of advice.
Lock snapping is a way for intruders to take advantage of the weak point on a uPVC/composite door lock and gain entry in a matter of seconds. It started in West Yorkshire a number of years ago, and it’s now a nationwide problem, with no sign that it’s slowing down. Would-be intruders will search for a property that doesn’t have snap-safe locks fitted. They know what locks they are looking for and will move on if they know snap-safe locks are fitted.
If, for example, your doors are fitted with the old, brass-coloured cylinders with no manufacturer’s branding on, then the chances are that they will not be snap-safe locks, and we highly recommend getting them checked sooner rather than later.
Warrior Locksmith Barwick in Elmet fits snap-safe locks as standard, because we firmly believe that prevention is better than cure. There are some good security tips on the North Yorkshire Police website.
If your doors are old or you have no idea what locks you have fitted, then why not give us a call? Then we can come and check to see if you have snap-safe locks fitted. If you don’t and would like to upgrade your locks to snap-safe ones, we can get them done there and then. Or if you need time to have a think about it, then that’s not an issue. You can call us back whenever is convenient for you.
